Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken

A much loved family chicken recipe, this baked sweet and sour chicken recipe is easy to throw together and packed full of flavour.

Serve with a side of your choice - rice, broccoli, corn, mixed veggies, or cauliflower rice. We love to serve ours with a delicious herbed rice and veggies.

Feeds: 4 people

INGREDIENTS:

4 chicken breasts, sliced into strips
½ cup sugar
½ cup tomato sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
½ cup apple cider vinegar
3 tbsp minced garlic
1 onion - finely diced
2 tbsp cornstarch

METHOD:

  1. Pre heat the oven to 200 and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Add the garlic and onion to a frying pan and brown off, before adding the remaining ingredients and reducing the liquid. 

Then add the cornstarch and thicken the sauce.
  3. Place the chicken strips on the lined baking tray and pour the sauce over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and golden.
  4. Serve with rice and veggies of your choice.
